Dear parents and carers,
It was great to see Lingwood in the newspaper over half-term. Please see the link below.
Lingwood Primary Academy win Acle Cluster Competition | Norwich Evening News
Yesterday I received a certificate celebrating the fact that Lingwood was in the top 25% of primary schools in the country for our attendance last term. This is recognition for everyone at the school. Well done and thank you.
Please see the letter I have sent out today about the actions we are taking having read all of the responses from the surveys that were sent out last month.
Next week I will update you about staffing for September. Mrs Clack is now only working at Heartsease because of a leadership change there. Fortunately, we have got the expertise of Sarah Porter supporting all this SEND for the remainder of the summer term.
Have a lovely weekend.
Mr Jeffery

Year Group News
Nursery
This week in Bishy’s we have carried on our learning from before half term, with a Foundational Knowledge focus on different occupations. We have continued learning about doctors, while also talking about how shopkeepers, builders, firefighters and police officers help us. In maths we have been counting out up to 5 objects from a larger group, remembering to stop once children reach a given number. And in phonics we have been building confidence in segmenting a given word down into its individual sounds.
Reception
This week in Reception we have been reading the book ‘Things That Go’. The children have really enjoyed looking at all sorts of different vehicles and using junk modelling to make their own. They have played ‘garages’ in the outside area and have been carrying out MOTs on all the bikes and scooters. In maths we have been learning how to share objects and put them into equal groups.
Year 1
This week Squirrels have been describing position, direction and turns in Maths, using the vocabulary of quarter and half turn, left, right, above, below and ordinal numbers.
In English we have been reading And Tango Makes Three, making predictions about the text and have been writing instructions for a recipe. In Geography we have been talking about where hot and cold parts of our world are.
Year 2
Year 2 have started a new topic in maths – statistics. The children are getting good at recording information in tables and tally charts. In English we have been working hard on writing a simple retelling of a narrative and editing it to add impact. We have also started preparing for sports day during our PE lessons.
Year 3
This week Year 3 have enjoyed exploring and discussing how shadows change throughout the day. They could confidently use and apply their prior knowledge from their home learning when giving their explanations – well done. In Writing they have started their new unit on using dialogue in narratives. In Maths they have finished the unit on shape by exploring and making 3D shapes.
Year 4
This week, I have been so impressed with the level of reading and time on TTRS over the half term holidays. In class, Year 4 have enjoyed being creative writing their informal diary entries. In maths, they have been learning about different types of turns and angles. In geography we explored why we day and night occur and in art we have been exploring the concepts of tone and tint.
Year 5
Year 5 have come back settled and focused for their final half term! In writing, we have been considering how to write an effective balanced argument, considering the use of additional and oppositional adverbials, building cohesion and ensuring our paragraphs have a point, evidence and explanation. In maths, we have started our new unit of decimals. During PE sessions, the class have been enthusiastic about playing rounders!
Year 6
Year 6 are writing speeches in English and learning about negative numbers in mathematics. In history, they have started a new unit on significant kings and queens. For science, they are continuing with living things and their habitats.
