Lingwood Primary Academy Newsletter 12th September
Dear parents and carers,
One of the highlights of this week has been seeing how well children and staff have adapted to mixed age classes. The leadership team visit every classroom every day and it has been great to see how the staff are able to challenge and support all of their class. It has been lovely to see new friendships developing but also nice to see children coming out at break and lunch and catching up with friends in different classes.
Our records show we are now at 85% of parents signed up and using Arbor. It is crucial this figure gets to 100%. As always, any issues Arbor, Mrs Tubby will be happy to support.
At Lingwood we always like to hear about achievements outside of school. Well done to Dylan. Last weekend Dylan won Horning Junior Regatta.
Have a lovely weekend.
Mr Jeffery

Year Group News
Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have continued reading our book, ‘Nursery? Not Today!’ and learning some new vocabulary from the story. In maths we have been comparing groups of objects using words like more and fewer, the children enjoyed finding bears around the classroom to make big and small groups. We have been listening carefully to instruments in phonics and trying to identify the sounds we can hear.
Reception Rabbits
This week Rabbits class have continued to focus on settling into school, understanding the school rules, routines and expectations. We have had a focus on kindness, thinking about ways we can be kind to each other and linking this to our focus book ‘I’m (almost) Always Kind’. In maths we have carried on learning about 0, 1 and 2, while in phonics we have been using the letter sounds m, a, t, s and i to read, write and spell words. Children also loved their first outdoor learning session and starting PE!
Hares
Hares have had a brilliant week. We have continued to develop our writing in full sentences with a capital letter, full stop and including ‘and’ for some of us! In Maths we have been using different manipulatives to help us make numbers to 20. We really enjoyed our Geography lesson about the continents and look forward to learning more about this. Ms Freezer was super impressed with our Art work too, where we explored using pressure to change the effect of pencils, oil pastels and charcoal. Another busy week for us!
Fawns
Fawns have continued to work hard this week in class. In maths we have been looking at partitioning numbers in different ways. In our writing lessons we have been looking at the use of precise adjectives and expanded noun phrases. We have enjoyed planning some characters for our animal stories.
Otters
Otter class have been learning all about the world around them this week! From the icy depths of the ice sheets and glaciers in Antarctica and how they affect the rivers around the world in geography to animals and their habitats in our science lessons. We have also been carefully studying and drawing the repeated pattern of leaves and feathers in our art lessons.
Badgers
Badgers have had a very successful week. We have been expanding our knowledge of place value in maths and in English, we have started writing our formal letters of applications. I have been very impressed with the imagination from the class with their writing! This week, we also began our history topic: The Ancient Greeks!
Foxes
The Foxes are continuing to work on their autobiography this week, digging deep into their pre-school memories. Some of the class also took part in Bikeability this week and were a credit to the class and school.
