Dear Families,
We have had a very positive week in school despite another heatwave across the country. Children have been working extremely hard across all areas of the curriculum as we near the end of term.
We have celebrated two music concerts this week which was such a lovely way to start and end the day with parents supporting these also. These concerts highlighted our values of determination and ambition, we are so proud of all our pupils and particularly our EYFS and KS1 children who were brave and performed in front of the whole school. Rock Steady and the private music tuition will continue next year: if you need any further information please contact the school office.
Transition
All children have spent a successful 2 days in their new classes. Staff have been very proud of all pupils who have been focused and showing our Lingwood Way and school values.
We appreciate the challenges linked to a change in routines; however, all children have managed this very well. We look forward to an exciting year ahead for us all in school.
Our new pupils to school to join Rabbits class from September have also had visits into school and shown to be very independent and enjoyed learning the routines in the classroom with Mr Scott and Miss Yeomans.
Please can all children bring in plastic bags as we begin to send all work home from this academic year.
Enjoy another sunny weekend.

Year group news
Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have been reading ‘The Suitcase’. The children have had some really thoughtful conversations about doing the right thing and the importance of being kind and looking after others. Our foundational knowledge has been looking at maps. We have been thinking about what information goes on a map, drawing our own maps and making big maps using our construction resources. In maths we have been matching, sorting and comparing objects, thinking about making groups the same and why they are different.
Reception Rabbits
This week the current Rabbits class have been reading the book ‘This Is Our House’ by Michael Rosen, which links to themes of kindness and sharing with ALL of our friends in the classroom. We have used the book as inspiration for writing short sentences on what the characters were doing and how they were feeling. In maths we have been consolidating our learning on maps and thinking about their key features when drawing a view from above of our own gardens. The new Rabbits class enjoyed transition sessions last week and loved exploring their new classroom!
Hares
Hares have had a busy week! We have continued making our monster hand warmers (ready for the winter…?) and impressing Ms Freezer with our sewing skills. Likewise, we have started our final piece of writing and recounting Sports Day. In maths we have enjoyed playing games to help us learn directions and turns. Most importantly we have enjoyed our transition days and making new friends ready for September! We cannot believe it’s our last week together next week – let’s make it a great one!
Fawns
What a brilliant week, the class have really impressed us this week with their excellent recall of knowledge about plants in science. In maths we have been working on our methods multiplying and diving 1- and 2-digit numbers. We have also started planning our stories from other cultures in writing and are looking forward to completing them next week. All pupils have also impressed us with the hard work and determination shown on the transition days and it has been lovely to get to know everyone in our new classes from September.
Otters
What a week! The children have shown fantastic skills in maths on their topic of shape this week. In writing, they have started to write their own explanatory text on electricity – some wonderful vocabulary coming from the children. We also had two brilliant transition days, where the children were following the Lingwood Way in their new classes, sharing ideas and exerting kindness towards each other. We can’t wait for September.
Badgers
We had two truly fantastic days in Badger class for transition. All pupils demonstrated the Lingwood rules and values delightfully. We are looking forward to September.
Foxes
It was the transition days in Fox class so the majority of the class were with Ms Hughes learning whilst the new cohort were in the classroom. It was a very good transition day and I am looking forward to September. In class, my current Foxes have been writing their story with a moral and doing artwork with Ms Hughes.
