Nursery
This week in Nursery we have continued reading ‘Elephant in my Kitchen!’. The children found out why the animals were in the kitchen and not in their own habitats and have been learning about why some animals are endangered. Our foundational knowledge has linked to our story and the children have been enjoying sorting recycling in our classroom and exploring paper pulp as well as thinking about how they can help look after our environment. In maths we have been looking out for 1, 2 and 3 in stories and rhymes and using our fingers to show these numbers.

This week Rabbits have been busy running the mini marathon and visiting the local farm. On Monday we enjoyed making our own medals, trophies and numbers to compete with. At the farm we loved seeing the baby animals and then holding and feeding them.
Hares
This week in Hares class we enjoyed making smoothies! We have used the experience to start a new English writing task, working on instructional writing to outline the steps involved in making a smoothie. Our new core text is ‘Mrs Noah’s Pockets’, which we have been using to work on skills including retrieval and summarising texts. In maths we have continued to learn about money as we compared amounts of coins and looked to find the right amount of change. In science we are building our vocabulary around the parts of a plant.
