Dear Families,
What another busy week in school we have had. Well done to Years 2-5 for their assessments this week. You tried your absolute hardest and and should be proud of yourselves. Otters also had a Viking workshop which they thoroughly enjoyed and Reception learnt all about bees and how they make honey. We have another busy half-term coming up and I hope the children enjoy their week off.
Please don’t forget to donate to the FOLPA tombola raffle when we are back.

Year group news
Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have continued reading ‘I Want to be a Doctor’. The children have learnt lots of new vocabulary like prescription, patients and thermometer and have talked about whether they would like to be doctors when they grow-up. They have also learnt about some other jobs – vets, dentists and teachers and thought about what skills they might need to do those jobs. In maths we have been making collections and talking about how they are the same and different.
Reception Rabbits
Rabbits have had a buzzing week learning about bees! On Thursday we really enjoyed our visit discovering how bees make honey and how we can help them in our gardens and community. Have a wonderful break together and come back raring to go for our final term!
Hares
Today in science Hares class got to enjoy the sunshine while looking closely at the different trees on the school grounds, identifying the parts to each one and seeing how they differed between type of tree. In history we found out more about Neil Armstrong as part of our new topic on the lives of significant individuals in recent history. In art we started a new block of learning as we explore materials and techniques for producing textile art.
Fawns
This week in Fawns we have been learning about multiplication in maths with increasing complexity. In writing we have begun our non-chronological reports about plants which has linked to our topic in science. In PE this week we enjoyed welcoming some of the Year 3’s from Otters class and practiced for Sports Day.
Otters
This week Otters took part in a fantastic workshop all about the Viking era. They had a chance to chop wood, view and investigate some of the artefacts and had a brilliant Viking expert to ask all their questions relating to their learning! In writing we are exploring poetry, specifically its structure and form. Finally, in art, the children have been mixing and blending colours using different medium such as paint and mixing oil pastel with oil to make it mixable.
Badgers
Badgers have had a lovely end to the half term. They thoroughly enjoyed creating their road safety belts in DT and using different types of fastenings to ensure their designs would be flexible and adjustable. In French, they have learned about different types of sports this half term and they are really working on their pronunciation. Finally, they have done so well with their assessments this week and they have all tried their very best. Well done Badgers!
Foxes
Fox class have had a good week and finished their newspaper report; they were very well written. In DT, the class wrote down and analysed the challenge they did last week of creating structures out of spaghetti. In maths, Fox class did lots of work on statistics (bar charts, line graphs and pie charts). Well done to Year 5 for their work this week when taking assessments.
