Dear Families,
There have been so many great things going on this week – I was particularly impressed with the dance show from Otter class! It was amazing to see the children so confident whilst performing and I hope that we can do many more things in the future. We have had a big push on respect this week and lots of the children won their Star Awards for showing respect to other people around the school – well done!

Year group news
Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have continued to read the book ‘People who need People’. We have been talking about who we like playing and sharing with and listened out for the new words we have learnt. Our foundational knowledge has been to think about drawing and we have practised drawing different shapes, making lines lighter and darker and carefully copying an image or object.
Reception Rabbits
This week in Rabbits class we have been learning about the people who help us, particularly during the night. We have enjoyed pretending to be police officers, fire fighters, recycling collectors, petrol station workers as well as many others. In our maths, we have continued to concentrate on the numbers 6, 7 and 8 and can’t wait to go even further next week!
Hares
It’s been another fun and busy week in Hares class! In DT they all made their own rainbow wrap. Most of the class said they enjoyed the cabbage and even tried the lemon juice! Children have started their big piece of writing, a recount from their personal experience of what they did on Christmas Day. In maths we have been focusing on adding and subtracting across 10s, and spotting patterns when we add 10s.
Fawns
In Fawns this week we have been working hard on division in maths. In writing, we have been learning about how to use coordinating and subordinating conjunctions. We have also enjoyed learning about rhythm and pulse in music.
Otters
This week Otters continued to delve into their reading of Varjak Paw. They have been developing their news reports and are coming towards writing the final paragraph. For some of them, one of their biggest achievement this week was performing their dance routine to 350 people at The Space. They had so much confidence and shined on the stage! Well done Otters.
Badgers
Badgers have enjoyed starting their new history topic this week: The Mayans. They have been thoroughly enjoying The Boy in the Tower, which is their new core topic book and predicting what will happen throughout the book. In English, they have started writing their biographies about Mae Jemison and really putting in their all to producing some highly skilled writing! To finish off, they have been learning written methods for multiplication. Well done for another fantastic week Badgers!
Foxes
Fox class have made a great start to writing their disaster narrative in English. In art, they began their printing and will continue it next week. In science, they proved that with light, white is all colours mixed together by creating a spinning colour wheel. Year 6 did some assessments this week as well and should be very proud of how well they focused.
