Dear Families,

We have had a very busy and productive week in school.

It was absolutely wonderful to see so many parents come into school to meet class teachers and discuss how children are progressing with their learning.  It is great to see how Lingwood families and school are working together to support your children.

‘Just One Tree Day’

The BBC Look East team were in school this morning and will be sharing an article at 6:30pm on BBC this evening.  It will then be on the BBC iPlayer from about 8:00pm for an hour.

Thank you for all your support with ‘One Tree Day’ – today we raised in excess of £125.00 and still rising!  This means that 125 more trees will be planted for the Lingwood Forest – making a total of 319 Lingwood Forest trees… Brilliant!  Huge thanks to Ms Mills for leading this important charity event.

We will receive ‘Plant Hero Status’ which celebrates our commitment to protecting the environment.  Well done, Team Lingwood!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Mrs J Sendall

Interim Headteacher

Year group news

Nursery

This week, Nursery have been reading the book Meg and Mog. They have been learning about light and dark and have really enjoyed exploring our dark tent in the classroom and making witches potions in our cauldrons. In maths we have been learning to subitise up to 3 and the children have been practising saying how many objects they can see without counting.

Reception Rabbits

As we continue to learn more about autumn, Rabbits class have been enjoying the book ‘Pumpkin Soup’. We have been painting pumpkins, scooping the seeds from them and exploring what they are like inside, and building our hand strength by pushing golf tees through the thick skin! In maths we have continued to learn about patterns, extending to AAB and AABC patterns.

Hares

This week has been very creative for Hares Class.  We designed and began to make our sliding pictures in D&T and then carved a pumpkin to help us with our Instructional Writing for next week.  Make sure you come and see Patti Pumpkin near our classroom!

Fawns

This week Fawns have enjoyed a DT lesson making their own patch for our class patchwork. In writing we have been editing and improving our stories based on familiar nursery rhymes. We have challenged ourselves in maths this week to think about the parts of maths we find difficult and have been working hard to overcome these challenges.

Otters

This week, Otter class have enjoyed learning a new art technique called wet on wet – we experimented with intermediate colours on wet paper to see how colours would work on wet paper and evaluated our work. In science, we discussed the impact the loss of one biotic species would have on other species within an ecosystem and how the different life forms keep that ecosystem balanced.

Badgers

Badgers have had great fun this week with their cooking! We have been exploring breads from around the world and they thoroughly enjoyed their flat bread with garlic butter. In geography, they have been exploring different biomes and how animals have adapted to living in these biomes. They have thoroughly enjoyed their tag rugby this half term but they are looking forward to swimming after half term.

Foxes

This week the class have made samosas in DT and learnt how to multiply and divide multiples of ten in maths. In geography, the class learnt all about how tectonic plates cause earthquakes and volcanoes. In English, the class continued to work on writing stories with a moral.
