Dear Families,
Our focus for this week was kindness and a massive well done to those children who have shown kindness this week; whether it was helping others, holding doors open or with manners. Lingwood also excelled at the sportshall competition at the UEA where they behaved impeccably and gave it their all. It is also really good to see so many children win their star badges for 100 Dojos – well done, keep it up.
Just a reminder though. This week we have seen many more children not wearing the appropriate school uniform and PE kit. Please do ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform.

Year group news
Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have been reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Our foundational knowledge has been a drama focus so the children have been acting out the story and eating lots of pretend porridge. In maths we have been looking at repeating patterns in stories, rhymes and artwork and the children have created some of their own.
Reception Rabbits
This week in Rabbit Class we have continued to have a lovely time exploring paints, particularly watercolours. Our story has inspired us to explore Chinese culture and next week we will continue this by learning about Chinese New Year – we cannot wait!
Hares
This week, in the final lesson of the topic for DT, Hares class have been making vegetable kebabs – children drew pictures of how they wanted theirs to look and used great descriptive words when tasting them! In history we have been learning more about Mary Anning, while in science we have continued experiments to help us learn about the properties of different materials.
Fawns
This week in Fawns class we have been learning about fractions in maths. We have looked at halves and quarters as well as counting in fractions on a number line. In writing we have finished our non-chronological reports and have really enjoyed reading all about everyone’s hobbies.
Otters
This week Year 3 and 4 have been exploring their new text, ‘Young, Gifted and Black’. They have been answering retrieval and inference questions on historic, black figures. In maths, they have been calculating length and perimeter in various ways. Finally, we have come to the end of our D.T. project on hinges. The children made their boxes on Thursday and will continue to make their lid and hinge next week.
Badgers
Badgers have had a great week starting their stories from another culture. There have been some fantastic and creative ideas and they’re looking forward to writing them. In maths, they have started fractions, including recognising and ordering mixed numbers and improper fractions. They have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Ancient Maya again this week, as well as the works of Galileo in science.
Foxes
Fox class have been working on percentages this week in maths and have been finding equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages. In English they have been writing their explanation text on how a mountain forms. In computing this week, they enjoyed using iMovie to edit objects to disappear.
