Year group news
Nursery
This week in Nursery we have continued to read You Choose Fairy Tales. We have been thinking about what we might take on our adventure and what could happen along the way. We have been busy making Christmas cards and learning about mixing colours and how to hold a paintbrush correctly. The children have also been enjoying printing their own wrapping paper, wrapping presents and posting them in our post office. We would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas!
Reception Rabbits
This week in Rabbit’s class we have been enjoying a classic festive story, ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’. We have been making links back to some of the traditional tales we have learnt about in recent weeks, while building understanding of why letters and parcels are sent. It’s also been a great excuse for lots of practice of our own writing! Children have also had fun making their own Christmas decorations – we hope you enjoy displaying them at home, and that you all have a fantastic Christmas break!
Hares
This week we have had a wonderful time designing and building our Christmas Tree Towers! Ms Freezer was pleased to have healthy Hares return who jumped straight back into their learning despite being poorly. Merry Christmas to all Hares and their families. Have a safe and restful break together!
Fawns
This week Fawns have finished writing their cultural stories. I have been impressed by the perseverance shown by all pupils as well as their use of ambitious vocabulary. In maths we have continued our unit on multiplication and have challenged ourselves to increase out times table recall speeds. Well done Fawns for all your hard work this half term, enjoy the well-deserved Christmas break.
Otters
Otters have finished writing their third person adventure stories and have done a fantastic job! They have also been learning about area this week; they created some Christmas pictures and found the area of different parts of their pictures by counting the number of squares they took up.
Badgers
What a lovely end to the half term Badgers! They have been working their socks off to finish their stories and they have been truly wonderful to read. We have started a new unit on coordinates this week in maths and finally finished off our core text The Explorer, which they have thoroughly enjoyed. Have a lovely Christmas break everyone!
Foxes
Fox class had a very good end of term, finishing their work on fractions this week in maths (for the time being) and comparing the poems of Shakespeare and Wordsworth. In DT, they continued their work on gears and pulleys – there are some pictures on Class Dojo. Have a fantastic break Foxes and come back ready in the new year for some more hard work.
