Dear Families,
As we approach the end of term, the next two weeks promise to be full of festive activities, and the school is looking wonderfully Christmassy. It has been truly heartwarming to hear the children singing carols so beautifully this week—it’s been a very busy and joyful time.
I thoroughly enjoyed Hot Chocolate with the Headteacher this afternoon. It was inspiring to hear the fantastic reasons why children were nominated for this special treat. Many spoke about following the Lingwood Rules and upholding the Lingwood Values. By doing so, they help create a school community where everyone feels they belong. Your children are very fortunate to have such a dedicated team of caring teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff—I am honoured to work alongside them.
Finally, I’d like to remind you of the importance of your children attending school every day where possible as we approach the end of term.
Mrs Sendall
Interim Headteacher

Year group news
Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have continued to look at the Nativity story. The children have been recreating the Nativity scene, dressing up as some of the characters and enjoying singing songs in preparation for our show. In English we have been using prepositional language to describe journeys in stories, especially words like over, under, round, on and through.
Reception Rabbits
Christmas has arrived in Rabbits class! We started the week by finding out more about different celebrations around the world, to then look at how Christmas is celebrated in a variety of ways. We have enjoyed making Christmas cookies and some handmade decorations to then decorate the class tree.
Hares
This week in Hares class we have started our new D&T topic – structures. We have learnt about the importance of a strong base or foundation, to ensure that a tower is steady and balanced and does not fall over. We are looking forward to learning more about this and building our own structures in the next couple of weeks.
Fawns
This week in Fawns we have started reading our new book: Goldilocks a #Cautionary Tale which we have really been enjoying and are looking forward to finding out what is going to happen next. In maths we have started our unit on multiplication and have been looking at making equal groups and arrays.
Otters
Otters have been busy practising for their Christmas performance this week and are excited to sing their songs to the parents! We also finalised our dance for the dance show and are excited to keep rehearsing it to perfect it.
Badgers
Badgers have been hard at work developing their skills on perimeter in maths this week. They have really outdone themselves in dance by learning some Ancient Maya ‘motifs’ and putting them together with some music. In computing, they have been exploring coding with loops, which they found challenging at first but they really persevered. Well done Badgers! Keep it up!
Foxes
Fox class have written a fantastic explanatory text on the circulatory system, really focusing on technical language and presentation. Next week, they will edit it. In reading, they have finished the book Pig Heart Boy and will start a new, shorter book soon. In maths, they have done brilliantly at subtracting fractions.
