Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to school. What an amazing week it has been with the children coming back so calm and settled.
Over the half-term holidays, the corridors had a new coat of paint. It certainly looks brighter now! I can’t wait until the boards go up and we can display some amazing work.
There have been many things to celebrate this week including those who took part in the cross-country competition. You were absolute role-models to the school and should be proud of yourselves.
Now that the weather is turning, could we please ask that all children come to school with appropriate coats so that they can enjoy outdoor playtimes as fully as possible.
Warm wishes
Mrs J Sendall
Interim Headteacher

Year group news
Nursery
This week, for World Nursery Rhyme week, Nursery have been learning the rhymes Incy Wincy Spider and Humpty Dumpty. They have been thinking about how best to help them stay up the water spout and on the wall and what materials might help with this. In maths, they have been describing objects around us and using words like curvy, pointy, corners and round.
Reception Rabbits
This week in Foundational Knowledge we have been celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week. We have shared various stories based on nursery rhymes including ‘The Whales on the Bus’. In maths we have looked at more and less, comparing items such as towers of cubes or amounts on a tens frame.
Hares
What a busy first week back we’ve had in Hares Class! We have started our new painting topic in art, continued learning about our local area and what shopping was like in the 1950s in history, as well as started to learn our songs for our upcoming Nativity – details to be sent home soon!
Fawns
This week we have introduced our new writing unit, stories from other cultures, and have been researching what makes each culture unique. In maths we have been learning about shape and, in preparation for Children in Need, fundraising and money.
Otters
Otter class have been learning about what is in their food: thinking about the difference between mass-produced foods and fresh foods. They made their own pizzas this week and realised how simple (and fun) they were to make!
Badgers
Badgers have been hard at work writing their balanced arguments. We have started a new unit in science, all about animals including humans, and we kicked it off with a very interactive lesson on the different types of fitness which left us a bit out of breath! In computing, we are now learning about coding and making objects move in a loop.
Foxes
This week Foxes have started a new art unit on cubism and studied the works of Picasso. In English they have begun to write a newspaper report and in reading have started the book Pig Heart Boy. They have done a very good job of learning division.

Fines for parents for taking children out of school: What you need to know.
Remember that every day counts and we are in every day next week!

Cross country
On Tuesday this week, twelve enthusiastic runners from Years 4 to 6 proudly represented our school at the event, displaying incredible sportsmanship and unwavering support for one another. The course was certainly not easy, especially with its gruelling uphill finish, but every child rose to the challenge with determination and resilience. The training that had taken place in previous weeks paid off and the children enjoyed a fantastically organised day of competition. By the end, every runner was already talking about coming back next year to do it all again!
Children in Need
A huge thank you to all who were able to contribute towards Children in Need. The school raised £122.60.
