Play Buddies and other responsible roles for pupils.

Each year, pupils in Years 5 and 6 are invited to apply for a range of roles and responsibilities to help support the rest of the pupils here at Lingwood Primary Academy. This also includes the important roles of Head Boy and Head Girl.

The Head Boy and Head Girl are selected from Year 6 pupils who put themselves forward to represent the pupils and to be ambassadors for the school. The applications are done at the end of the summer term, so that the Head Boy and Gil are in place for the new year. Their responsibilities include: showing visitors around the school; helping arrange and allocate the rest of the responsible roles for Years 5 and 6; helping in assemblies; and overseeing the Playground Buddies.

This year, our Head Boy is __________ and the Head Girl is ____________.

Other Responsible Roles:

Playground Buddies: being a Playground Buddy at lunchtime involves helping the Reception children when they have their play time outside after their lunch. Playground Buddies also support play with other children, and organise games and activities for them. There is a weekly rota for the Buddies, so that they know which day they help out.

Office Support: Pupils who put themselves forward to be an Office Support Helper have the job of answering the phones during some lunch times, as well as welcoming visitors to the school as the enter the building. For this role, pupils go through some training with Mrs Tubby – [School Business Manager].

Music Monitors: These pupils make sure that the Music Room is always kept tidy for the use of others.

Assembly Monitors: This position involves pupils making sure the hall is ready for assembly on Monday and Friday – helping with chairs for staff and parents and benches for Year 6 before the assembly begins. They are also often responsible for starting and stopping the music played at the beginning and end of assembly.
